The next day we stopped in Auburn on the way to Lake Tahoe and saw the great statues of Auburn.  They were created by a local dentist, Ken Fox,who lives there in town. He started raising his statues in the 1960's.   It's too bad that more people don't know about them. They are very imposing and something the small town of Auburn should publicize.
